Module 1: January 14 to the 25th
Zipolite, Oaxaca, Mexico
This workshop is currently FULL.
Contact Gino Cacciotti to check for cancellations.
In this project, hosted as two 2-week modules by natural builder and master stone mason Gino Cacciotti, we are back in our adoptive hometown of Zipolite. This was also the location of our 2007 school project. This time instead of creating a building designed to be used by the whole community, we will be building a home for a single family.
Topics covered include soil identification, locating and procuring materials, stabilized soil earthbag foundation, basic hand and foot cob mixing and placing techniques, cob wall construction, earth floor preparation, earthen plaster, door and window rough openings, passive solar design, and composting toilet.
Lodging is NOT provided this year, but clean, safe and affordable rooms are easily available nearby--please check Solstice Mexico Retreat information, or contact Gino Cacciotti for details.
Make new friends, bring old ones--group rates available.
Time is of course allowed for chilling under a palapa or for sight-seeing. The building site is centrally located in town within walking distance of most anywhere.
Healthy and nutritious vegetarian meals, snacks and refreshments are provided, children under 14 free and encouraged
The water is safe, shopping banking and internet nearby.
Module One:$900.00 USD limited to 12 people
Module Two:$900.00 USD limited to 12 people
Combined cost for both modules: 1500.00 USD
