¨ Temazcal ¨ is a Nahuatal Indian word that literally means ¨ house of heat ¨. The temazcal is a traditional sweat lodge at which cleansing and bathing rituals are regularly performed to rid the body of it´s impurities.
Topics covered in this workshop are straw bale layout and construction, vaulted bale ceiling and roof design, bale-to-foundation connections, wall-to-roof connections, earth plaster finishing, and basic dry-laid stone masonry techniques.
Talks will be given on the topics of traditional healing and cleansing using the temazcal, and the importance of plant medicines and herbs used inside the temazcal, and why.
Workshop participants are also invited back for a traditional temazcal ceremony after completion.
Location: The Natural Building Institute of Ontario, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada.
All vegetarian meals and snacks provided, children under 14 are welcomed at no extra cost.
Campers are available for rent for $40.00 per day extra
