Enjoy two full weeks of cob constuction on Mexico's southern pacific coast. The group will be participating in building a one-room schoolhouse for the children of Zipolite.
Topics covered: footings and foundation building for cob construction, walls, window and door construction, intuitive design, and composting toilet.
We will also be building and using a solar cooker as well as an earthen cob oven. A palm thatch roof will be built by local thatch experts highly skilled in the ancient craft.
The workday is from 8 AM until 1 PM, and after that relax on one of many white sand beaches, chill under a palapa in the shade, go market shopping or browse the main street for local handicrafts. There is a nightly chalkboard chat, after the evening meal, to briefly catch up on the day's work.
As part of the project we will also be building a community oven out of cob as a separate two-day project--helping the people of Zipolite.
Healthy and nutritious vegetarian meals, snacks and refreshments are provided.
Lodging is provided at the clean and safe Solstice Mexico Retreat located on Zipolite Beach very near to the building site.
